India's tech sector is going through an evolution, with an increasing appetite for automation and specific technical competencies such as big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and cyber security, according to a recent report.

The demand for AI, blockchain, machine learning, and cyber security talent surged by 28-30 per cent in the third quarter of 2023, as highlighted by global recruitment firm Michael Page India.

Pranshu Upadhyay, Regional Director of Michael Page India, emphasized the pressing need for skilled professionals in these domains, particularly at mid to senior levels. He noted that AI's transformative impact across various sectors is prompting companies to seek top-tier talent to effectively leverage this technology.

The concept of a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) has undergone a notable shift, placing greater emphasis on visionary leadership and forward-thinking perspectives. The modern-day CTO is expected not only to execute but also to innovate and strategize.

Upadhyay further underscored the significance of soft skills, such as strong communication and interpersonal abilities, alongside technical proficiencies, even at the mid to junior levels. This emphasis on a holistic approach reflects the evolving demands of the tech industry.

Michael Page, renowned for its expertise in permanent, contract, and temporary recruitment, entered the Indian market in 2011. With over 200 specialist recruiters focusing on mid to senior roles across 11 disciplines, the firm operates through offices in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Bengaluru.
