New Delhi: A major Cloudflare incident has disrupted several popular online services. X (formerly Twitter) briefly returned but went down again for many desktop users at 6:27 pm, with timelines failing to load and posts not going through. Engineers are investigating; this is a developing story.

Affected services

The outage has affected a wide range of platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Spotify, OpenAI platforms including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Canva, Letterboxd, Bet365, League of Legends, Sage, and Downdetector.

What users are seeing

Desktop users on X report timelines not loading and error messages when posting. Mobile apps appear less affected in many cases, but some users still face delays and connection errors. Across other platforms, users have reported slow loading, failed requests, and partial service outages.

Downdetector data shows a sharp rise in problem reports over the past 24 hours. The most reported issues on X were: feed problems (44%), website access (30%), and server connection errors (27%). A chart from Downdetector illustrates the surge in reports compared with normal volumes.

About Cloudflare and why this matters

Cloudflare is an internet infrastructure provider that helps route traffic and protect websites. When Cloudflare has issues, many sites and apps that depend on its services can slow down or go offline at the same time. That shared dependency likely explains the broad impact seen across multiple platforms today.

ChatGPT and other services

OpenAI platforms, including ChatGPT, also experienced outages after reports spiked on November 18. The timing suggests these interruptions may be linked to the larger Cloudflare problem rather than isolated faults at individual companies.

At 6:27 pm, X desktop service was down again after a short recovery. Timelines are once more failing to load and posts are not being published for many accounts.

Engineers at affected companies and at Cloudflare are working to restore normal service. No official cause or detailed timeline for full recovery has been released yet. This story is developing and will be updated as new information becomes available.
