After Realme, Oppo announces yet another sub-brand ‘Reno’

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has announced a new sub-brand Reno at its home turf. The announcement comes in less than a year after Oppo introduced its first sub-brand Realme last year. Oppo’s line-up of Reno-branded smartphones will become official next month at its home turf. The launch has been scheduled for April 10.
The announcement was made by none other than Oppo vice president Shen Yiren. They have also introduced a new logo for the sub-brand that appears to be highly youth-centric. We are waiting for more information with regards to Reno’s primary objective and target-audience going forward.
Oppo’s VP Shen Yiren made the news official via his official Weibo account. Yiren’s announcement was later shared by Oppo’s official Weibo account.
As spotted by MySmartPrice, the landing page of Oppo’s Reno is now live on the company’s official website. When you open the page, you will see an animation transforming into Reno’s branding. Below the logo, one can also fine a tagline “Imagine, a little closer” and a date April 10, 2019, apparently teasing the launch.
At the time of writing this, we don’t know much about what to expect. However, Oppo has revealed earlier that they are launching a new smartphone in April. Since the phone’s branding wasn’t revealed, there is a possibility that it could be this Reno-branded smartphone.
We are expecting a complete design overhaul as far Oppo’s upcoming smartphone is concerned. Powering Oppo’s upcoming smartphone will be Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 processor. In terms of optics, the handset will feature Oppo’s 10x optical zoom technology that was recently showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in Barcelona, Spain. The device will pack a 4,065mAh battery.
Oppo’s Realme sub-brand has been fairly successful in markets like India. So, we are still seeking some clarity whether Oppo’s Reno sub-brand will come to India. Earlier this month, another Chinese smartphone brand Vivo announced a new sub-brand called Vivo iQOO. It launched its first smartphone with 12GB of RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.
