Realme, which very recently launched the 2019 Realme C1 smartphone that has a sub-Rs 10K pricing, could now launch future phones running its own customized operating platform variant called the RealmeOS. as of now, Realme handsets are driven by the ColorOS that also powers Oppo’s smartphones.

According to reports, that quote an apparent patent filing by Realme at the Intellectual Property Office of the United Kingdom, there are reported mentions about RealmeOS. Though this rumour is fit to be taken with a pinch of salt, it is worth noting that the possibility of RealmeOS cannot be ruled out considering the fact that the brand (earlier an Oppo spinoff) has been doing fairly well in India. The brand even claimed that it managed to sell as many as 40 lakh phones in 7 months from the time of its launch in the country.

A standalone custom operating platform would also potentially do the brand a world of good considering the fact that there could be an increased number of custom applications coming to the fore.

At this juncture, with Realme smartphones continuously targeting the budget smartphone segment in India, South-Korean brand Samsung also made its re-debut into this segment through the Galaxy M10, M20 smartphones both of which are affordably priced. Hence, there could be a potential battle in the budget smartphone domain in the Indian consumer technology scheme of things.
