It's Not Just You! YouTube Is Down for Thousands of Users Worldwide
YouTube is currently facing downtime across the world, impacting services such as video streaming and servers.
Google's YouTube was down for thousands of users in several parts of the world, including India, the US, the UK, and Europe, on Friday, according to Downdetector.com. There were more than 3,000 reports of issues with the streaming platform as of 6:30 pm IST, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources.
YouTube's services were mostly impacted in the US and the UK. The outage in these locations spiked at around 7 pm, with the internet disruption watchdog showing more than 10,000 reports. Canada also reported the outage, but the impact was minimal.
According to Downdetector, the outage was led by server connection issues, with users reporting problems accessing the homepage. Some users said that while the homepage was accessible, videos did not play, and some played with a high buffer time. A few users also said the YouTube app on their phones crashed.
While YouTube or its parent company did not issue a statement, the services were restored soon. In some locations, other Google services, such as YouTube TV, were also down.
