Users of X (formerly Twitter) reported widespread service disruptions across platforms that lasted for several hours. According to outage tracking site Downdetector, 41,612 disruptions were reported in the US alone in the last 24 hours. Most issues were linked to the website (48 percent) and the mobile app (45 percent). A smaller share of users, around 6 percent, reported login difficulties.

The outage affected users globally, with complaints surfacing about difficulties in posting tweets, accessing timelines, and using app features. Downdetector noted that it only registers an incident when the number of reports is significantly higher than usual, which was the case on Monday. The disruption was characterised by a recurring error message stating, "Something went wrong, but don’t fret — let’s give it another shot," which usually appears when users attempt to refresh their "For You" or "Following" feeds. This screengrab highlight the platform-side failure where the interface seemed to be functional, however the backend failed to retrieve or display any new content, leaving timelines completely blank.

X did not issue any official statement regarding the cause of the disruption. Users took to other social media platforms to share frustrations and to seek updates.
