India-Japan Unicorn Warship Project Kicks Off

India and Japan have taken a major step in defense cooperation with the launch of the Unicorn Warship Project. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa unveiled the ambitious joint project aimed at developing next-generation stealth warships for the Indian Navy. This collaboration combines Japanese advanced technology with Indian shipbuilding capabilities to create powerful, stealthy warships designed for modern naval warfare in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Unicorn class warships will feature cutting-edge stealth design, advanced sensors, and superior combat systems. This project marks a new chapter in India-Japan strategic partnership, strengthening maritime security and promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific. It also supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by boosting indigenous warship manufacturing.
The symbolic meeting highlights the deepening defense ties between the world’s largest democracy and a key technology partner.
