Why India Is Aggressively Making More Missiles

India has opened Pralay missile production to the private sector for the first time. The government has ended Bharat Dynamics Limited monopoly and inducted private companies as full manufacturing partners under the new Defence Acquisition Procedure. Adani Defence Bharat Forge and Solar Defence are now making key parts including airframe warhead and propellant for the Pralay quasi ballistic missile. This big move will boost annual production from just forty missiles to between one hundred fifty and two hundred fifty missiles every year using four parallel assembly lines.
The Indian Army and Air Force have already ordered nearly three hundred seventy Pralay missiles worth thousands of crores. Much larger numbers are expected for the new Integrated Rocket Force in the coming years.
