Why is Indian Air Force Dropping 12,000‑kg Bombs Near Pakistan

Exercise Vayu Shakti is the Indian Air Force's massive triennial demonstration of its integrated air power and combat effectiveness. Conducted at the Pokhran range in Rajasthan, the exercise serves as a powerful showcase of the IAF's "long reach" and precision strike capabilities. It brings together over a hundred aircraft, including front-line fighters like the Su-30 MKI, Rafale, and LCA Tejas, alongside attack helicopters like the Apache and Prachand.

The primary objective is to validate the IAF's ability to conduct full-spectrum operations, including day and night strikes, surface-to-air missile launches, and paratrooper drops. By obliterating simulated enemy targets with high-accuracy munitions, the IAF sends a clear message of deterrence to regional adversaries. Beyond pure firepower, Vayu Shakti tests the seamless coordination between various platforms and advanced electronic warfare systems. It is not just a drill but a strategic rehearsal that ensures the force remains battle-ready to defend Indian sovereignty under any conditions.
