Smoked 60 Cigarettes A Day! Nana Patekar Had A Heart Problem Before 'Krantiveer' Climax

Veteran actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar has died at 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Dona Paula, Goa. He was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors performed CPR for almost 45 minutes without response. He was declared dead at 5:20 am. A medico-legal case has been registered and a post-mortem will be conducted.

Patekar reportedly smoked as many as 60 cigarettes a day until he was 56, when he eventually quit the habit. Separately, director Mehul Kumar has recalled that Patekar had a heart problem just before the climax of Krantiveer was to be shot. He was admitted to Nanavati Hospital. Kumar says Patekar told him, "If I pass away, not just your climax but your film will not be completed."
