Benjamin Netanyahu Calls For Complete 'Nuclear Dismantling' In Iran, Warns Trump Ahead Of Talks
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organisations, reiterating his skepticism toward any US-Iran nuclear deal. He also talks of the stringent Israeli demands he had shared with US President Donald Trump during their recent White House meeting. Netanyahu insisted that any agreement must go far beyond merely halting Iran's uranium enrichment process: all enriched nuclear material must be removed from Iran entirely, and the country should have no enrichment capability whatsoever, not just a pause, but the complete dismantling of enrichment equipment and the underlying nuclear infrastructure. He also called for curbs on Iran's ballistic missile program and its support for regional proxies, framing Iran as untrustworthy and prone to deception.
This stance comes against the backdrop of resumed indirect US-Iran negotiations, with a second round set for Geneva involving US envoys like Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, following initial talks in Oman. Trump has ramped up pressure through threats of severe consequences, including military action if no deal is reached, describing potential failure as "very traumatic" for Iran and confirming the deployment of a second aircraft carrier (USS Gerald R. Ford) to the Middle East alongside the USS Abraham Lincoln to bolster the US posture. While US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized a preference for diplomacy, Iranian leaders, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, have rejected "excessive" demands, insisting talks focus solely on the nuclear file and vowing not to bow to coercion or aggression.
