Inside The Thailand-Cambodia War 2.0: Why Did The Two Nations Violate The Trump-Brokered Ceasefire?

Residents on both sides of the border between Thailand and Cambodia were forced to escape in huge numbers as fresh fighting broke out on Monday, killing at least five people. Since the two countries signed a ceasefire in July, this is the biggest confrontation between them, and both sides have accused the other of starting the fighting. Thailand's prime minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, stated that his country "never wanted violence" but will "use necessary means to preserve its sovereignty." The former leader of Cambodia, Hun Sen, asserted that Thai "invaders" were instigating retaliation.
