Video: Is Trump’s Peace Plan Leaving Ukraine Defenceless?
Donald Trump’s 28-point Peace Plan proposes ending the Russia-Ukraine war through territorial concessions, military restrictions, economic rebuilding measures, and global supervision. A key element requires Ukraine to accept Russia’s control over Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk, while freezing the status of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia along the current contact line.
Under the plan, Russia would withdraw from remaining occupied regions, and a neutral buffer zone in Donetsk would be formally recognized as Russian territory but kept free of Russian military presence. Ukraine’s defence forces would be limited to 600,000 troops, and the nation would be required to constitutionally pledge that it will never join NATO. NATO, in turn, must revise its framework to permanently exclude Ukraine and avoid placing troops there.
In exchange, the US would provide binding security assurances—valid only if Ukraine follows all conditions. If Russia breaches the agreement, sanctions would return and coordinated military action could resume.
