US-Iran War: Pakistan Prepares For Second Round Talks While Iran Ditches | What Will Trump Do?

US President Donald Trump has announced that a second round of indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran will begin in Islamabad, Pakistan. The talks aim to extend the fragile ceasefire and address critical issues, particularly the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump expressed optimism, saying the Iranian side is “begging for a deal,” while Vice President JD Vance and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will lead the US delegation. Pakistani authorities have tightened security in the capital ahead of the high-stakes meeting.

However, Iran has outrightly rejected claims of direct negotiations. Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and other officials insist no formal talks have taken place and accused the US of making excessive and unlawful demands. Despite the ceasefire, tensions remain high as Israel continues operations in Lebanon, and both sides appear far apart on key issues.
