On November 20, the Supreme Court adopted a definition for the Aravalli hills, a two-billion-year-old hill range that extends from Delhi to Gujarat. Geologists are perplexed by this definition, which has also provoked protests and a political storm between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the opposition Congress.
