Arnab Dismantles Lutyens Cabal For Backing Rapist Tarun Tejpal
The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court has overturned the 2021 trial court acquittal of former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal, convicting him of rape and sentencing him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. The judgment brings an end to a 13-year legal battle that began in November 2013, when Tejpal sexually assaulted a junior colleague, who was also his employee, inside a hotel elevator during an event in Goa.
Arnab calls out the "Lutyens cabal," a prominent network of journalists, ad gurus, actors, and politicians who rushed to shield Tejpal over the years, and exposes the exact words used by his defenders, from calling the assault a "momentary aberration" or a mere "pass," to dismissing it as a media trial while attacking the victim's character.
Watch Arnab break down the High Court's ruling, Republic’s 13-year pursuit of the case, and how justice was finally served.
