BREAKING: Faridabad Girl Jumps Off School Terrace, Dies; Family Accuses Teacher Of Harsh Punishment

A 16-year-old Class 11 student named Jhanvi died on September 1, 2026, after jumping from the third-floor terrace of Navodaya Vidya Niketan Senior Secondary School in Faridabad, Haryana. The incident occurred around 1:30 pm after classes had ended. School staff rushed her to hospital, where she was declared dead.  Her father has alleged that a teacher made her stand in the sun for nearly four hours as punishment over a classroom dispute (linked by some reports to a biryani-related ruckus), leaving her deeply distressed. The school principal has strongly denied any punishment, stating the student went to the bathroom and then suddenly jumped. Police are investigating both versions, reviewing CCTV footage, and say the exact reason remains unclear.
