BREAKING: Gaighata Rape-Murder Key Accused In 17-Year-Old Girl’s Case Shot Dead in Encounter

The main accused in the alleged rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl, has died in a police encounter.

He was taken to the crime scene in the early hours of the morning to reconstruct the incident, where he snatched a sub-inspector’s revolver and attempted to escape, following which he was shot.

The case concerns a Class 11 student who was abducted, raped and murdered near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Gaighata, North 24 Parganas. Her body was recovered behind a neighbour’s house on Sunday morning, triggering protests and demands for justice.
