22-year-old Ajay Godara from Arjansar village in Bikaner, Rajasthan, became the latest victim of deceptive recruitment when he was killed fighting for Russia in the Ukraine war, with his body repatriated in decomposed condition on December 17, 2025. Godara had left for Moscow in November 2024 on a student visa for a language course but was allegedly coerced into military training and deployed to the frontlines after three months, despite refusing to fight. In a desperate September video, he pleaded for help, revealing he and other Indian youths were forcibly sent to Ukrainian soil.
