BREAKING: Karnataka HC Quashes FIR Against Arnab Goswami | Congress-Turkey Office Row

Karnataka High Court has quashed the criminal proceedings against Republic Media Network Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami and BJP leader Amit Malviya in the Congress-Turkey office case, according to Republic’s courtroom report.

Passing the final order, Justice M. Nagaprasanna held that registration of the FIR amounted to an “abuse of the process of law,” according to the legal team’s account in this broadcast.

The case concerned a Republic TV digital clip that incorrectly depicted the Istanbul Congress Centre as a Congress party office in Turkey. The FIR was registered at Bengaluru’s High Grounds police station under Sections 192 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Republic had issued a corrigendum saying the incorrect image was used inadvertently because of a technical error.
