Video: Indian Navy Inducts Second MH-60R Helicopter Squadron
In a significant boost to its aerial combat capabilities, the Indian Navy inducted its second squadron of MH-60R ‘Romeo’ helicopters on December 17 at INS Hansa in Goa. The induction aims to enhance the Navy’s operational reach and lethality across maritime domains.
The MH-60R helicopters are fitted with advanced precision-guided rockets and missiles, along with the capability to launch torpedoes. They are also equipped with a comprehensive self-protection suite, including chaff and infrared flares that can be automatically deployed upon detecting threats.
Designed for multiple mission profiles, the helicopters will undertake anti-submarine warfare, surface strike roles, maritime surveillance, and search-and-rescue operations, reinforcing their status as one of the most versatile assets in the Indian Navy’s fleet.
