Kurnool Bus Tragedy: 20 Dead, Govt Announces Rs 5 Lakh Ex-Gratia for Victims' Families

At least 20 people were killed and several others injured when a luxury private bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire near Chinnatekuru village in Kurnool district on October 24. The sleeper bus, carrying 43 passengers, went up in flames around 3:30 AM after colliding with an oncoming motorcycle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh for each deceased from the PMNRF, while the Telangana government offered ₹5 lakh compensation for each affected family.
