The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has presented explosive evidence in the Supreme Court through an affidavit, revealing WhatsApp chats that allegedly demonstrate how legal officers and supporters were mobilised to create chaos and obstruct proceedings in the Calcutta High Court. This relates to disturbances during a hearing linked to ED raids on I-PAC premises in Kolkata, where the agency accused West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and top police officials of interference. The chats, as accessed and reported by Republic TV, purportedly show coordinated efforts to gather lawyers at a specific time, turning the courtroom into a scene of commotion that the Supreme Court described as "mobocracy" and a "very serious" issue, prompting concerns over attempts to block or disrupt judicial processes. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta highlighted these communications while alleging that such mobilisation thwarted proper judicial scrutiny in the ongoing money-laundering probe.
