Punjab Twin Blasts: Khalistanis Claim Attacks Near Army Cantonment Areas | Amritsar | Jalandhar
Punjab was rocked by twin blasts on May 5 and 6, 2026, just a day before the anniversary of Operation Sindoor. The first powerful explosion occurred around 8 PM in Jalandhar near the BSF Punjab Headquarters when a parked scooter suddenly caught fire and detonated. Hours later, another blast was reported around 10:50 PM near the Khassa Cantonment area in Amritsar. Forensic teams, Bomb Disposal Squads, and senior officials from police and army rushed to both sites for investigation. No casualties have been officially confirmed so far.The Khalistan Liberation Army (KLA) has claimed responsibility for the Jalandhar blast, stating it was an IED attack to avenge the killing of their associate Ranjit Singh in a February police encounter in Gurdaspur. The group also claimed two BSF constables were killed and three injured, but these claims remain unverified by authorities. Police are investigating from all angles, including the ownership of the scooter and possible links between the incidents.
