Tejashwi Yadav Detained: Water Cannons On RJD March To Raj Bhavan Over Paper Leaks & Unemployment

RJD leader and Bihar's former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was detained on Wednesday during a protest march to Raj Bhavan in Patna. Tejashwi led a roughly 5-km march from JP Golambar to the governor's residence, joined by RJD leaders and workers who hit the streets over recurring paper leaks and rising unemployment in the state. The immediate trigger for the agitation was the alleged AK-47 firing on student demonstrators in Siwan, an incident that sharpened public anger and brought the party's cadre out in large numbers.

As the march advanced towards Raj Bhavan, police personnel used water cannons to disperse the protesters before detaining Tejashwi and several others. Reacting to the action, Tejashwi said the protesters were peacefully raising the issues of Bihar's youth and had given the administration no cause for such a response. He pledged that the fight for students' rights and justice would continue, signalling that the RJD intends to keep the streets hot on the twin issues of exam paper leaks and joblessness.
