Viral Baby Monkey Punch Has A Girlfriend? Adorable Kisses Caught On Camera

Tokyo: Is the viral Japanese baby monkey ‘Punch’ no longer single? Adorable videos from Ichikawa City Zoo shows the once-lonely macaque cosying up to another baby monkey, hinting that the internet's favourite who once clung to a soft toy for comfort may have finally found companionship.

Punch, who went viral for clinging to an orangutan soft toy after his mother abandoned him at birth, has now been spotted sharing adorable kisses with a macaque, who is named ‘Momo-chan’ and is slightly older than Punch.

The video showed Punch sitting close to Moe and flowering her with kisses.

An Instagram channel named Beyond The Wildlife shared the video and said, “Exciting news! Recently, Punch found a girlfriend named Moe, and they have spent all their time together. Moe is a little older than Punch, but they are completely inseparable”

A netizen joked, “Punch found a girlfriend, and you're still single.” Another wrote, “She's got great taste. He's the whole package: handsome, resilient, resourceful, capable of attachment to caretaker and comforting monkey and now gorgeous female. I hope he doesn't break her heart. He's obviously very attractive to all!”

Meanwhile, many netizens pointed out that 'Momo-chan' shares a huge resemblance with Punch''s stuff toy.

Born in July 2025 at Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan, Punch was rejected by his mother shortly after his birth. Without a mother to guide and protect him, Punch struggled to find his place within the troop of Japanese macaques at the zoo. Viral videos showed the young monkey being pushed away by older members of his group, and seeking comfort by hugging a stuffed orangutan toy given to him by his caretakers. The IKEA stuffed toy nicknamed ‘Oran-Mama’.
