The ceremony was led by the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Catholicos Karekin II, and took place in the Etchmiadzin Cathedral, the mother church of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian attended a memorial service on Sunday to commemorate all those killed during the recent conflict with Azerbaijan in disputed Nagorno-Karabakh.The ceremony was led by the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Catholicos Karekin II, and took place in the Etchmiadzin Cathedral, the mother church of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Nagorno-Karabakh lies within Azerbaijan but has been under the control of ethnic Armenian forces backed by Armenia since a separatist war there ended in 1994. Heavy fighting that flared up September 27 marked the biggest escalation of a decades-old conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, killing hundreds and possibly thousands of people. Russia negotiated a ceasefire signed last week which ended the fighting.
