Benjamin Netanyahu Reveals He Was Treated For Early-Stage Prostate Cancer
The announcement was included in the Prime Minister’s official annual health report, which had been delayed by two months due to the ongoing regional conflict with Iran and its proxies.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed on Friday that he has successfully undergone treatment for early-stage prostate cancer.
The announcement was included in the Prime Minister’s official annual health report, which had been delayed by two months due to the ongoing regional conflict with Iran.
The 76-year-old leader confirmed that he is now cancer-free and in "excellent physical condition" following a targeted medical intervention.
Diagnosis and Treatment Path
According to the medical report released by the Prime Minister’s Office, the condition was discovered incidentally.
In December 2024, Netanyahu underwent surgery at Hadassah Medical Centre to treat prostatic hyperplasia (an enlarged prostate).
While that procedure was successful, routine follow-up MRI scans later identified a "minuscule suspicious" measuring less than one centimetre.
Subsequent biopsies confirmed the presence of a very early-stage malignant tumour.
Medical experts noted that the defect was localised with no evidence of metastasis (spreading).
Netanyahu was reportedly given two options: active surveillance or proactive treatment.
He chose the latter, undergoing a course of modern, high-precision radiation therapy approximately two and a half months ago.
Strategic Delay of Disclosure
Netanyahu addressed the delay in making the diagnosis public, citing national security concerns during military tension.
"I chose to delay the report's publication so it would not come out at the peak of the war and be used by Iran for propaganda," Netanyahu stated.
“I did not want to allow the terrorist regime in Tehran to exploit my medical condition to spread false rumours or weaken the national spirit.”
Rumours about the Prime Minister’s health circulated on social media in March 2026, but the government maintained a strict "business as usual" stance until the successful completion of his treatment.
The report noted that the tumour had completely disappeared, and all laboratory tests, including blood work and cardiovascular exams, returned normal results.
