French lawmakers paid tribute to the victims of Monday night's terror attack in Vienna that left five people dead, including the gunman.
National Assembly President Richard Ferrand called on his colleagues for a minute's silence on Tuesday after describing the attack as "despicable and barbaric".
A 20-year-old Islamic extremist armed with an automatic rifle and a fake explosive vest carried out the assault, fatally shooting four people before he was killed by police, Austrian authorities said.
The suspect was identified as a young Austrian-North Macedonian dual citizen with a previous terror conviction for attempting to join the Islamic State extremist group in Syria.
French President Emmanuel Macron too sent his condolences to the Austrian people, saying it was another attack from "our enemies" on European values.
