Israeli PM Yair Lapid pays respects to Queen Elizabeth II
"We send our deepest condolences," Lapid said, before offering his best wishes to King Charles III, who became Britain's new monarch upon his mother's death.
Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid offered condolences for the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting on Sunday, calling the late monarch "a model of decency, stability, and an icon around the world."
"We send our deepest condolences," Lapid said, before offering his best wishes to King Charles III, who became Britain's new monarch upon his mother's death.
Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's longest-reigning monarch and a symbol of stability in a turbulent era that saw the decline of the British empire and disarray in her own family, died Thursday after 70 years on the throne. She was 96.
The state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II will take place on Monday Sept. 19 at Westminster Abbey in London.
