New Delhi: A major security scare has emerged around the family of US President Donald Trump after reports claimed that an Iran-linked Iraqi terror operative allegedly plotted to assassinate Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, as revenge for the 2020 killing of Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani.

According to multiple US media reports, the accused - identified as Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi, also known as Mohammad Al-Saadi - is believed to have links with the Iran-backed terror outfit Kata’ib Hezbollah and a newly formed proxy group called Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (HIYA).

An alleged Iran-linked assassination plot targeting US President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, has triggered a major security scare in the United States, with investigators accusing Iraqi national Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi of planning revenge attacks linked to the 2020 killing of Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani.

Who Is Mohammad Al-Saadi

According to reports, Al-Saadi - a 32-year-old alleged operative linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iran-backed militia Kata’ib Hezbollah - had allegedly vowed to kill Ivanka Trump and was reportedly in possession of a blueprint of her Florida residence.

The alleged terror plot was reportedly motivated by the US drone strike ordered by Donald Trump in Baghdad in January 2020 that killed top Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani. Citing former Iraqi military attaché Entifadh Qanbar, US media reported that Al-Saadi had allegedly told associates, “we need to kill Ivanka to burn down the house of Trump the way he burned down our house.”

Investigators also reportedly found social media posts linked to Al-Saadi showing a map of the exclusive Florida enclave where Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner own a luxury home. One of the posts allegedly warned Americans that “neither your palaces nor the Secret Service will protect you,” while claiming the group was in a “stage of surveillance and analysis.”

US authorities allege that Al-Saadi played a key role in coordinating multiple attacks against American and Jewish targets across Europe and North America through a newly formed Iran-backed terror network identified as Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (HIYA). Prosecutors have accused him of involvement in at least 18 attacks and attempted attacks, including synagogue bombings, arson attempts, stabbings, and assaults on US-linked sites.

The suspect was reportedly arrested in Turkey on May 15 while allegedly attempting to travel onward to Russia before being extradited to the United States. He is currently being held in solitary confinement at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

However, US authorities have not publicly released detailed evidence related specifically to the alleged targeting of Ivanka Trump, and the White House has not officially commented on the reports so far.
