Melbourne Holiday Inn COVID cluster grows to 11

A cluster of cases of the UK variant of the coronavirus detected at the Holiday Inn quarantine hotel in Melbourne has grown to 11, authorities announced Thursday.

A cluster of cases of the UK variant of the coronavirus detected at the Holiday Inn quarantine hotel in Melbourne has grown to 11, authorities announced Thursday.

Three of those cases are the original family from overseas (who were the index cases), six cases were infected at the hotel and the other two cases are spouses of infected hotel workers.

All cases have been confirmed by health authorities to be the UK variant of the virus. There have been no new exposure sites identified, but people are encouraged to continue to check Victoria's Health Department website for developments.
