Exclusive footage obtained by the Associated Press and filmed in late May showed the presence of Sudanese troops, known as the Al-Hazm Brigade, in Yemen;s Hajjah Governorate.

Sudanese troops are fighting alongside the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen's internationally recognized government forces against Houthi rebels.

The footage shows the deployment of Sudanese troops in the Midi region, which overlooks the coast of the Red Sea in the Hajjah Governorate, northwest of the country, close to the Yemeni-Saudi border.

The Sudanese troops had deployed mainly to Yemen's border areas with Saudi Arabia to repel any attacks by Houthis on the kingdom.

Yemen has been embroiled in a civil war since 2014, when the Iranian-backed Houthis swept across much of the north and seized the capital, Sanaa, forcing the internationally recognized government into exile.

The Saudi-led coalition entered the war the following year on the side of the government.

The war has killed more than 130,000 people and spawned the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
