Pakistan Train Hijack: Over 30 Personnel Killed, Baloch Rebels Demand Prisoner Swap Within 48 Hours

Pak security forces have rescued 80 passengers after an attack was carried out by the Balochistan Liberation Army, a government spokesperson said. 

“The 214 Pakistani personnel, including military, paramilitary, police, and intelligence officers, are being held under full security and in accordance with the rules of war by the BLA. If our demands are not met within the stipulated period or if the occupying state attempts any military action during this time, all prisoners of war will be neutralized and the train will be completely destroyed. The Pakistani army will bear full responsibility for the consequences,” an official statement issued by Balochistan Liberation Army said. 

Train was stopped after a portion of the track was blown up by the BLA, who opened fire on the engine, according to reports in Geo TV. 

Under the rules of war, these 214 hostages are considered prisoners of war and BLA is prepared for a prisoner exchange. Pakistan is given 48 hours to immediately and unconditionally release Baloch political prisoners, forcibly disappeared persons and national resistance activists, an official statement issued by the Balochistan Liberation Army. 

bdul Qadir Baloch, a former parliamentarian in Pakistan said that at least 150 Pak army personnel have been killed. 

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) after claiming that it seized control of the train by derailing it said they have killed 20 security personnel. 

Balochistan Liberation Army said 182 hostages have been in its custody for six hours. 

A BLA spokesperson said that the clash with the Pakistani air force using anti-aircraft guns is ongoing.

Balochistan Liberation Army said 11 Pakistani military personnel have been killed, and a drone has also been shot down. Over 180 taken hostage. 

“BLA fighters remain in full control of the Jaffar express,” said Balochistan Liberation Army.

If the aerial bombardment is not halted immediately, then all 100 plus hostages will be executed within the next hour, said Jeeyand Baloch, spokesperson for the Balochistan Liberation Army. 
 

The Balochistan Liberation Army said women and children are no longer in their captivity. The outfit earlier hijacked an express train.

“The train was stopped by armed men in Tunnel No 8. Efforts are being made to contact the passengers and staff,” the controller said.

The Pakistan Army has rushed a relief train with reinforcements of Pakistani soldiers and doctors from Quetta Railway station to Sibi in Balochistan after the Jaffar Express was hijacked with more than 100 passengers. The Baloch Liberation Army has set free Baloch passengers and women and children. 

The government in Pakistan's Balochistan province has issued directions to local authorities to take “emergency measures” after insurgents opened fire at a passenger train. 

Controller Railways Muhammad Kashif said that the train, comprising nine coaches, had around 500 passengers on board.

Multiple travellers were wounded in the attack on the express train carried out by the Balochistan Liberation army.
