Myanmar security forces opened fire on anti-coup demonstrators in Myaing on Thursday, with unconfirmed reports of up to six fatalities.

A video posted on social media shows a crowd of people crouched low in the street as repeated gunfire rings out.

The footage shows clouds of tear gas begin to surround the demonstrators who then flee.

Earlier on Thursday a report from Amnesty International said that "lethal force is being used in a planned, premeditated and coordinated manner" by Myanmar's police and soldiers to crush opposition to last month's military coup.

"The military authorities must immediately cease their deadly onslaught, de-escalate the situation nationwide, and release all those arbitrarily detained," the report said.
