A small plane crashed into the tallest building of Beijing, China on Friday. Dramatic pictures have surfaced showing a hole in the 109-storey building.

Beijing: A small plane crashed into the tallest building of Beijing, China on Friday. Dramatic pictures have surfaced showing a hole in the 109-storey CITIC Tower, also known as China Zun.

The building, which is 1,732 foot tall, has been evacuated.

Pictures have surfaced showing parts of the plane, including one of its wings, lying on the ground after the Sunward SA 60L Aurora light aircraft (B-12PP) crashed into the building.

Another picture showed what appeared to be parts of plane dramatically falling down the supertall skyscraper. A taxi parked below the building was also suffered minor damages.

The crash also triggered a small fire on the ground. Police closed off the roads shortly after the crash.

‘Louder Than Fireworks’: Eyewitness

The 109-storey building is the headquarters of state-owned conglomerate CITIC Group. According to Reuters, an eyewitness described the crash as “loud”, saying, “It was louder than fireworks.”

Another local said, “I was on my ​way down to dinner when someone said a plane had crashed into the next ​building. So we ⁠went to look out the window and saw police cars, ambulances and the blue tarp on the road.”

Another said, "It's very strange ​for a plane to fly into this area."

It is not clear if there were any survivours in the crash. Further details into the matter are awaited.
