Barnier arrives ahead of EU ambassadors meeting

The European Union's Chief Brexit Negotiator Michel Barnier arrived on Friday at the European Parliament in Brussels ahead of a meeting with the bloc's ambassadors as a deadline on securing a trade deal with the UK loomed.

The talks are being held a day after officials warned that there were “substantial progress on many issues” regarding the post-Brexit trade discussions.
