The New York Police Department has confirmed the total number of victims in the shooting incident. As per the authorities, there were 10 gunshot victims.13 others suffered injuries as they tried to get out of the station or suffered smoke inhalation. Earlier in the day, police identified the suspect as 62-year-old Frank R.James. 

In the aftermath of the shooting incident, New York Police are investigating social media videos of the suspect Frank R. James. In one of the videos, the 62-year-old black man is heard saying, "This nation was born in violence, it’s kept alive by violence or the threat thereof and it’s going to die a violent death. There’s nothing going to stop that."

A day after the horrific mass shooting incident occurred, New York City Transit subway resumed its full services on all of its lines. The trains will be running on their regular routes and will also be stopping at 36th Street Subway Station. Meanwhile, the police has identified the suspect as Frank R. James.

Frank R. James who rented the cargo van used in the 36th St. Subway shooting has been named a 'person of interest'.  Late on Tuesday, authorities announced that a "person of interest wanted in connection with a shooting on a subway car in Brooklyn has ties to Philadelphia".They also offered a $50,000 reward. Notably, keys to the van were found with fireworks. Police are searching for the male to determine if he is involved in the incident.

In the aftermath of the subway shooting incident, NYPD has said that anyone who provides related information will get a reward of up to $50,000. The toll of people injured in the 36th Street Subway attack has now risen to 23. A lone attacker, wearing an orange-colored vest and gas mask opened fire at the Brooklyn Subway station at 8:30 am EST yesterday. 

No Chinese citizens have been killed or injured in the shooting attack, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson has said. Furthermore, he also expressed his condolences to those affected and condemned gun violence.

"We're not letting up until we find the perpetrator," US President Joe Biden vowed in the aftermath of the New York subway shooting. At least, 16 people have been injured in the attack. 

Police have said that at least 33 shots were fired by someone in a rush-hour subway train, shooting at least 10 people Tuesday in Brooklyn.

China's foreign ministry confirmed that no Chinese national has been injured in the Brooklyn subway shooting, said China's CGTN news organisation Wednesday.

United States President Joe Biden stated on Tuesday that his administration is in frequent communication with New York police. The US President said, “My team has been in touch with Mara Adams, New York's police commissioner, and the Department of Justice, the FBI working closely with the NYPD (New York Police Department) on the ground," ANI reported.

Further, Biden added, "We are going to continue to stay in close contact with New York authorities and as we learn more about the situation over the coming hours and days." 

In addition to this, President Biden has denounced the attack at the subway station in Brooklyn. Biden said during a press conference in Iowa that he and first lady Jill Biden "are praying" for those harmed and affected by the incident. Taking to Twitter, he said, “We are grateful for the first responders and civilians who jumped into action. My team has been in touch with city officials and we are working to support efforts on the ground.” 

Transit crimes have surged by 46% since last year as the city reopened, reported The Independent citing New York Police Department statistics. As per the report, about 224 more violent incidents have been reported in New York’s subways even as ridership remained 60%.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority has announced that the D/N/R trains resumed service at the 36th Street subway station in each direction early Wednesday. Meanwhile, NYPD also concluded its investigation at the subway station.

Authorities have said that Police found 'several undetonated' devices as multiple people were shot at Brooklyn subway station.

Several children were among the dozens who were injured during a major shooting incident at a subway station in Brooklyn when a suspect fired at least 33 shots and used smoke grenades on the train, stated media reports.

Hours after the shooting that left dozens injured, New York governor Kathy Hochul shared a picture taking a subway ride as the manhunt for the shooter is still ongoing.
 

Security of NYC mayor Eric Adams has been ramped up as social media posts, published by the Brooklyn shooting suspect resurfaced. A YouTube account called “prophet oftruth88”, whose videos matched a screenshot shared by police, repeatedly addressed Adams and even expressed violent thoughts. According to one clip seen by The Independent, James said, "These are the people that were supposed to be helping me...They made me worse! They f***ing made me worse" while referring at photos on a projector screen behind him

Students under lockdown amid shooting shut-down in Sunset Park school, according to NY Post, posted signs on their school’s windows during a shelter-in-place order after Tuesday’s nearby mass subway shooting including one saying “Make NYC Safe Again.”

After facing severe criticism for an abrupt surge in fares after the Brooklyn shooting incident, Uber Technologies Inc has capped the pricing on Wednesday. On Tuesday, rates had abruptly jumped after New York City emergency issued alerts advising people to avoid the area near the 36th Street subway station. According to Uber, the fare is driven by an algorithm and added it is auto-calculated when rider demand is higher than driver supply.

After Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell called the suspect's posts “concerning”, the New York Police Department increased the security of New York mayor Eric Adams after authorities looked through the suspect’s social media posts. The suspect, who identified himself as New Yorker threatened Adams against his proposal to combat gun violence and said it was “doomed to fail”. “Because I see some serious flaws in his plan,” the suspect, James said. 

Subway rider Fitim Gjeloshi, who claimed to come face to face with the shooter and even watched him pull out a gas mask, said he was mumbling and muttering to himself. Gjeloshi told the New York Post, "I looked at him, and I thought to myself he was talking to himself for like awhile, so I looked at him, and I was like, this guy must be on drugs." Gjeloshi  was on the Manhattan-bound N train just before 8:30 am with the shooter when the man started firing at people.

“When [the train] was about to hit 36th Street, we stopped for 5 minutes. He takes out a gas mask from one of his little luggage[s],” he said. “He opened one of his gas tanks, and he said, ‘Oops, my bad.’ He pulls out an ax, he drops it, he takes a gun out, he starts shooting.”

US President Joe Biden has condemned the attack at Brooklyn subway station, adding that he has been in touch with New York mayor Eric Adams as the suspect remains on the loose. During the conference about the energy prices in Iowa, Biden said that he and first lady Jill Biden "are praying for those injured and impacted by the attack today."

He thanked the first responders for their swift response at the scene. US President also appreciated the civilians who tended to the others injured with the first aid before emergency responders arrived to tackle the situation.  “Civilians who didn’t hesitate to help their fellow passengers and tried to shield them,” said Biden.

“We’re going to continue to stay in close contact with New York authorities as we learn more about the situation over the coming hours and days,” said Biden. He added that he was waiting on more updates. "We’re not letting up until we find the perpetrator," he stressed. 

Keechant Sewell, the New York City Police Commissioner, told reporters on Tuesday that there are no known explosive devices on the subway train and the attack is not being probed as an act of terrorism. The manhunt in the United States for the gunman is still ongoing with police offering $50,000 reward for information leading to arrest of suspect in Brooklyn shooting.

She added that this incident is not being investigated as an act of terrorism. Sewell asked for New Yorkers to share any photos or videos of the incident with law enforcement, as the suspect is still at large.

According to the latest update, the number of people injured in the Brooklyn shooting incident has now reached 20 on Wednesday. According to New York Police Department Commissioner, Keechant Sewell, a suspect, Frank James, 62, was identified as a person of interest in connection to the shooting.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and a former police captain, has been facing criticism as he had vowed to end the gun violence during his election campaign. Earlier, he had posted several campaign ads featuring old photographs of him in his police uniform and a vow to secure a pandemic and gun violence in New York City. However, the latest attack shocked a city on guard about a rise in gun crimes and the ever-present threat of terrorism. 

New York Police were trying to track down the renter of a van possibly connected to the violence. Police Chief of Detectives James Essig said investigators weren’t sure whether the man, identified as Frank R. James, 62, had any link to the subway attack.

Authorities also were looking into social media posts by someone with the same name that mentioned homelessness, New York and Mayor Eric Adams, leading officials to tighten the mayor’s security detail, Essig and Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said. She said the posts were “concerning.”

New York City agencies are collaboratively offering $50,000 reward for any information regarding the suspect of the Brooklyn shooting that can help get him arrested. Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 100 have offered $12,500 each while the New York City Police Foundation is offering $25,000.

“We are doing everything we can to catch the man responsible for this heinous attack on our riders,” MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber said in a press document. “New Yorkers know that if they see something, they should say something, especially in this case. Justice must be served.”

“Riders need to feel safe. My members need to feel safe. We don’t just dip in and out of the system. We spend entire shifts down there every day and night. This guy has to be apprehended,” TWU Local 100 President Tony Utano, meanwhile said in the company's statement. 

Investigators released more details about the person of interest Frank James who they say is 62 years old and had ented the U-Haul van in Philadelphia. The van is believed to be connected with the shooting. There are currently no suspects in the custody. “We’re looking to determine if he has any connection to the train,” NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig reportedly said.

There were some “concerning” social media posts that the police says might be connected to James, NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell has separately said. The posts were about homelessness and New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Security for the mayor has been increased after discovery of the posts.

New York City’s mayor, Eric Adams has reportedly said that the US needs action at all levels of government to stop gun violence. “Today was a difficult day for New York,” he said. “We witnessed an act of violence and evil in the heart of Brooklyn. We saw a quiet Tuesday morning turn the N train into a warzone.”

Adams further added: “This rage, this violence, these guns, these relentless shootings are an American problem. It is going to take all levels of government to solve them.”

New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, the largest socialist organization in the United States, has blamed the law enforcement's $10 billion budget that it said had failed to prevent the shooting incident this morning in New York's Brooklyn. "[US] police department’s $10bn budget was unable to prevent nor provide aid to passengers this morning”, the group wrote on Twitter, sharing a report by the city's newspaper New York Times. The report outlined that when a frantic commuter approached the officer for help, he was asked to contact the United States emergency helpline number 911 because the officer's radio "was not working."

MTA's 'quick-thinking transit workers' ushered passengers to safety into another train after injured and panic-stricken commuters streamed out during the shooting shouting for help, MTA system chief Janno Lieber said.

A high school student named John Butsikaris was riding the other train when he saw a conductor urging everyone to get in, he said narrating the account of what happened. He thought there might just have been a mundane problem until the next stop, when he heard screams for medical attention and his train was evacuated, he said. 

“I’m definitely shook,” the 15-year-old told The Associated Press. “Even though I didn’t see what happened, I’m still scared, because it was like a few feet away from me, what happened.”

No transit workers were physically hurt, according to their union. Besides gunshot wounds, the injured riders were treated for smoke inhalation, shrapnel and panic. In Menlo, Iowa, President Joe Biden praised “the first responders who jumped in action, including civilians, civilians, who didn’t hesitate to help their fellow passengers and tried to shield them.”

MTA had announced last year that the cameras it had installed in at least 472 subway stations across New York will put criminals on an “express track to justice" but none apparently work, the investigators probing the Brooklyn shooting have found. The CCTV cameras were "malfunctioned in the station where the train arrived," Mayor Eric Adams told WCBS-AM. The investigators have been using phone to search for evidence, an inspection of the video that involves the suspect, and subsequently establish the identity of the shooter. 

Investigators were able to identify the suspect in the Brooklyn subway shooting after they found a credit card that was used to rent the U-Haul cargo truck. The U-Haul cargo van is connected with the subway train shooting, sources have told American broadcaster CNN. Five people were in critical condition but expected to survive. At least 17 in all were injured in some way in the attack that began on a train that pulled into a station in the Sunset Park neighborhood, about a 15-minute train ride from Manhattan and predominantly home to Hispanic and Asian communities.

Investigators believe that the shooter's handgun that they recovered from the scene had jammed at the time of the shooting, thus preventing the suspect from continuing to fire, the officials said, according to Associated Press. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives has completed an urgent trace to identify the gun’s manufacturer, seller, and initial owner. The attack has brought back in focus the issue of increasing gun violence and the threat of terrorism.

NYPD has found the U-Haul truck that they were searching for in connection with the Brooklyn shooting. The vehicle was reportedly unoccupied at the time it was located. It matches the description and Arizona license plate number. A bomb squad is on its way to inspect the vehicle. 

Authorities were giving officers a photo they believed to depict the gunman, and the Arizona license plate number of a U-Haul truck to look out for, two law enforcement officials said. Officers were told that if they spotted the truck, they should stop it and detain all occupants immediately.

Investigators recovered a handgun at the scene, along with multiple smoke devices and other items they are analyzing, said the officials, who were not authorized to discuss the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity. They said the suspect is believed to have had at least two extended magazines.

Mayor Eric Adams has reportedly said that the NYPD will likely share the Brooklyn suspect’s ID at a briefing later and will gather and share as much detail as possible to apprehend the man. 

As many as 29 people have been hospitalized with injuries from either gunshot wounds or smoke inhalation after the Brooklyn subway shooting, American broadcasters are reporting citing the local hospitals' data. 

Police trying to gather evidence via surveillance video in the 36th street station has found that the cameras were not operational due to a “malfunction.” Investigators have been using image of a suspect from a bystander’s cell phone video.

New York Police has started its search for U-Haul truck with Arizona license plate in connection with the  Brooklyn subway station shooting. A U-Haul truck with the plate number AL31408 is linked to the crime, an internal NYPD email accessed by American broadcaster CNN has revealed.

In a state address after the Brooklyn shooting, New york City's Mayor Eric Adams said: “We will not allow New Yorkers to be terrorized, even by a single individual." He asked the public to come forward with any information, photos or videos in order to apprehend the suspect. Adams who could not attend a press call in person due to his positive COVID-19 diagnosis thanked the first responders for tacking the situation effectively. 

NYPD police commissioner Keechant Sewell gave updates on the shooting incident.  "The accused filled the train with smoke and opened fire on the passengers. He was reportedly a Black male, 5'5" tall, with a heavy build. Wearing a green construction-type vest and a grey hooded sweatshirt," said Sewell.

New York governor Kathy Hochul at the press conference called the incident “an active-shooter situation right now in the city of New York.” “We say no more, no more mass shootings... It has to end and it ends now,” said Hochul.

New York City Governor Kathy Hochul on Tuesday warned New Yorkers to be alert, stating that the gunman who shot over dozen people at the Brookly subway station is still at large. She also referred suspect as a dangerous person.

"Tranquility and normalness were disrupted, brutally disrupted by a cold-hearted individual and deprived of heart...This individual is still on the loose. This person is dangerous," Hochul said while asking citizens to remain vigilant.

She added, "We say no more to mass shootings. It has to end. We are sick and tired of reading headlines of mass shootings. We crave stability. NYPD, State police, and everyone involved in this to stop the crime. No more crime. That's what we continue to say. It has to end and ends now."

In the wake of the horrifying terror attack in New York, the Indian Embassy on Tuesday issued a statement. In the statement posted on the Embassy's Twitter handle, it said that it was deeply disturbed by the horrific shooting incident in Brooklyn. The Embassy further added that it was in contact with the local authorities while putting forth its prayers and thoughts for those injured. Till now, 16 have been reported to be injured in the said incident. 

New York Fire Department in reply to Republic TV's mail informed that they received a call at 08: 27am (EDT) from 36 Street station of the BMT Fourth Avenue Line of the New York City Subway, which informed of smoke in the DNR lines train station.

NYPD Police Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell has said that the department has sprung on to a search operation to identify and detain the suspect. At this time, no explosive devices were found in the area. Outlining the events from the 36 Street station of the BMT Fourth Avenue Line, Sewell said that the suspect first opened a gas canister from his bag, let off the grenade, and immediately started shooting a barrage of bullets at the commuters. At least five of the sixteen injured were in a critical state but "stable with no life-threatening injuries," he said. 

"He is a black man, 5'5, with a heavy build. Wearing a green construction-type vest and a grey hooded sweatshirt. I request the public to help us to apprehend him," the NYPD Police Commissioner said, adding that at present CCTV footage from the area is being looked at to establish the identity of the gunman that blended with the crowd and escaped.

A New York Police Department (NYPD) spokesperson has informed Republic Media Network that the suspect involved in the shooting Tuesday morning inside the Brooklyn subway train is a "male" who wore an orange construction vest and a gas mask. "We are looking for the suspect to apprehend him," the official stated, addign that the unidentified gunman had fled the scene by blending with the crowd during the commotion. 

"The incident happened around 8.26 am in the morning [6 pm Indian time]. It was in Brooklyn, New York, at Subway Station. It looks like there are 12-13 people that are injured. Five people were shot and we are looking for a man wearing an orange vest, possibly armed with a firearm," the spokesperson told Republic Media Network.

After injuring nearly 16 people on the subway train and leaving several others bleeding on a Brooklyn platform, the suspect that blended with the crowd reportedly fled the scene. New York Police Department’s bomb squad is on the scene investigating, and the police are checking the MTA surveillance cameras to identify the suspect "who is still on the loose." 

The injured commuters have been rushed to NYU Langone of Brooklyn, Maimonides Hospital, Kings County Hospital and Methodist Hospital, police officials have informed.

An unidentified gunman who was disguised as an MTA construction worker and wore a gas mask launched an assault on the Manhattan-bound N train at the 36th Street station, Sunset Park in New York's Brooklyn borough, United States. The incident occurred at 8:30 am, about 6:00 pm Tuesday in Indian time. Authorities that rushed to the scene found several undetonated devices and passengers rushing towards the platform from the smoke-filled train. 

The suspect, who opened a barrage of firing, had set off a smoke grenade first and then launched an assault, the NYPD said in a news conference. Five people were immediately reported shot in the third car of the train. 

NYPD Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell has said that the attack that the attacks on a rush-hour subway train in which at least 10 were shot is not being investigated as 'terrorism' at this time. But she added that she was “not ruling out anything.” The shooter has not been identified with name, and the motive remains unknown.
