US President Donald Trump has said in a Twitter post on October 18 that he plans to nominate Deputy Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette as the new Secretary of Energy. An American businessman who serves as the United States Deputy Secretary of Energy, Brouillette was the next in the line in the Energy Department. His role as the deputy was confirmed on August 7, 2017. The deputy has backed Trump's call on petroleum and has also revived and revitalised the nuclear industry in America, cited reports. Trump lauded the deputy's experience ad called him a professional and completely apt for the position.
Trump on the resignation of current Energy Secretary
On the other hand, American politician who is the 14th and current United States Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry said on Thursday that he plans to leave his post later this year after he informed Trump of his intention to resign. The US President stood by the politician's decision and praised him. He thanked Perry for his job in the Energy sector. He also called him a Great Governor of Texas and a Great Secretary of Energy adding that he is also a friend. Trump added that he had already picked the next Energy Secretary and that Perry had been involved in choosing his successor.
Brouillette on US energy dominance
In a previous interview with the media, Brouillette said that the US' President's strategy talks of energy dominance. Explaining the statement by Trump, he said that the US is going to produce as much energy as it can, as cleanly as we can and as affordably as we can. The energy deputy also added that the state of energy in the US will not be affected by the price of oil or electricity. Brouillette in Trump's tone criticized the Green New Deal, a Democratic-backed plan, calling the plans laudable but silly.
