US President Joe Biden allegedly told his son Hunter's business partner over a decade ago that he was delighted the two were working together, an explosive missive said to be penned by the 80-year-old has revealed. According to the New York Post, Biden, who was the vice president at the time, addressed the letter to Devon Archer.

He told his son's business associate in 2011 that he was “happy” to see their professional relationship, and also apologised for not being able to talk to him at a luncheon due to other commitments. “I apologize for not getting a chance to talk to you at the luncheon yesterday. I was having trouble getting away from hosting President Hu,” Biden told Archer in the note dated January 20, 2011.

“I hope I get a chance to see you again soon with Hunter. I hope you enjoyed lunch. Thanks for coming,” he said, adding in his own handwriting that “P.S. Happy you guys are together,” a possible reference to the duo's Rosemont Seneca Partners investment firm.

The letter was brought to light on Wednesday by Archer, who shared it with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson during an interview. It is a strong contradiction to Biden's persistent stance of not being involved in his son's alleged shady business dealings.

Devon Archer's thoughts on the letter

Speaking about the note, Archer called it a "nice gesture," revealing that "it was kind of the beginning of our partnership and he was thanking me and thanking Hunter, I think, at the end of the day for bringing this idea of this government-regulatory-strategic-advisory business into the private equity world."

In 2011, Hunter and Archer were finding ways to launch international ventures. Ahead of the lunch with the Chinese president, the disgraced Biden specifically demanded that his new partner should be invited to the event, according to emails released by the National Archives earlier in May.
