Coronavirus vaccination sites across New York City ramped back up Wednesday after a two-day snowstorm that also shut down public transport, closed schools and cancelled flights.
People lined up around the corner for their rescheduled vaccination at God's Battalion of Prayer Church in the East Faltbush section of Brooklyn.
"It's expected that we're going to have some issues with the weather," said Jacqueline Delmont, chief medical officer at SOMOS Community Care, the non-profit coordinating mass vaccination sites in the city. "The most important thing is to get vaccines in people's arms and do it safely," Delmont said.
John Warren, 74, was scheduled to be vaccinated on Monday. "It's understandable they had to postpone it. So I'm good," Warren said, as he waited after receiving his shot.
Velta Johnson, 75, was released not to have to come to her appoint during the snowstorm that dropped more than a foot of snow across the city.
"I'd prefer to have come today, you know, instead of Monday when it was pretty bad travelling," Johnson said.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio cancelled city-run COVID-19 vaccination appointments Monday as a major winter storm barreled toward the city.
