New Delhi: National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the rescheduled date for conducting the NEET-PG 2024. The exam that was earlier scheduled on June 23 will be conducted on August 11. Moreover, NBEMS has decided to conduct the exam in two shifts. Earlier, the exam used to be held in a single shift.

The decision to conduct the NEET-PG in two shifts has drawn a flak from the doctors community, especially those who will be appearing for the exam.

“Absolutely appalled by the recent decision to conduct NEET PG in two shifts on 11th August. How can we ensure fairness in ranking when the exam is split into different slots? Seems completely unfair for serious PG aspirants! The lack of clarity and foresight is unacceptable! Immediate action and clarification is needed to address this issue. Our future should not be compromised by impractical decisions!” Dr Datta of AIIMS Delhi tweeted.

NBEMS president, Dr Abhijat Sheth said, “The NEET PG exam will be conducted on 11th August in two shifts...To ensure better arrangement for the students the exam is being conducted in two shifts... The cut-off date for the purpose of eligibility to appear in the NEET-PG 2024 will continue to be 15th August 2024...Standard normalisation ratio will be applied in two shifts...The final date has been decided after holding meetings with all the stakeholders including the government...We will ensure that all SOPs are in place”

“Date announcement of NEET PG 2024. Now this new drama of 2 shifts. Why can’t the board stop playing with students mental health,” another user posted on X.

“Taking #NEETPG in two shifts doesn’t looks good. I think NBEMS should reconsider their decision,” Dr Gaurav Kumar of MD Physician from Asian Medical Institute tweeted.
