'Set a New Record': PM Modi, Shah Appeal to Voters as Haryana Votes Today
PM Modi urged youth and people in Haryana to vote for the Assembly elections and 'set a new record.'
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, October 5, urged youth and people in Haryana to vote for the Assembly elections and 'set a new record.'
"Voting is taking place today for the Haryana Assembly elections. I appeal to all voters to be a part of this holy festival of democracy and set a new record of voting. On this occasion, my special best wishes to all the young friends of the state who are going to vote for the first time," the Prime Minister said in a post on X.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a post asked 'people of Veer Bhoomi Haryana ' to vote free the state from the rule of 'expenditure slips, corruption and dealers.'
"The people of Veer Bhoomi Haryana are going to vote in the state today. Your one vote will work to keep Haryana free from the rule of expenditure slips, corruption and dealers," the post read on X.
"I urge all my sisters and brothers to vote to maintain the pace of development and to elect a government that takes the government out of one district and reaches every village of Haryana ," Shah said further.
The Home Minister further exuding confidence in BJP said, "Only a government with a track record of development and good governance, and not one making false promises, can bring welfare to Haryana . First vote, then water."
Polling begins in Haryana on October 5 for the 90-membered legislative assembly with results awaited on October 8. Polling began at 7 AM on Saturday, across 20,629 polling booths in the state. The election results will be announced on October 8, with the vote counting taking place alongside that of Jammu and Kashmir.
The state has 90 Assembly seats, and 1,031 candidates, including 101 women, are contesting the elections. A total of 20,629 polling booths have been set up across the state.
After the intense campaign concluded, the Bhartiya Janata Party aimed for a third consecutive term, meanwhile the Congress would be hoping for a comeback after a decade.
