Harivansh Rai Bachchan: Famous poems by Amitabh Bachchan's father

Amitabh Bachchan is a megastar known for his journey in Bollywood. His father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a popular poet of the 'Nayi Kavita' literary movement (romantic upsurge) of early 20th century Hindi literature. Harivansh Rai Bachchan also received the Padma Bhushan in 1976. A stamp was introduced with his picture in 2003. 

He is best known for his work, Madhushala. It is a book consisting of 135 stanzas of four lines each. Madhushala published in 1935, brought him instant fame. Amitabh Bachchan has recited verses from the book on various occasions including at Lincoln Center, New York City.

4. Vishwa Sara So Raha Hai

Hain vicharte swaon sunder,

Vishwa saara so raha hai

 

Taking inspiration from his father, Amitabh Bachchan has also penned various beautiful poems. On Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s 107th anniversary, Amitabh paid homage to his father. He called his father a unique genius and a man of immense words. Amitabh Bachchan also revealed that he always thought of himself as a reincarnation of his father. Amitabh Bachchan regularly shares several throwback pictures of with his father on his social media handles.
