Sanjay Leela Bhansali expounded his portrayal for grandeur themes and colossal sets in an interview. His films are a visual treat because of additional folk tunes, ballads, use of classical instruments and high-pitched songs to showcase the darker elements in them. Bhansali turned music director with Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer romantic drama Guzaarish in 2010. The filmmaker has composed for several of his movies, including Padmaavat.

Bhansali Composed music for Guzaarish

Guzaarish’s music included beautiful rhythms such as Tera Zikr Hai. In parts of the music album, the ghost of his movies past appears difficult to shake off, for instance, in Dhundi Dhundli and the melodious Sau Gram Zindagi by Kunal Ganjawala. Udi Teri Aakhon Se with its upbeat music and strong vocals by Sunidhi Chauhan and Shail Hada, adds zest to the music.

Music Composer for Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela

In Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, the use of elaborate orchestration and vigorous rhythm, with a blend of traditional and contemporary sounds, has created soulful music. Lahu Munh Lag Gaya has adapted a strong Garba beat, while Ram Chahe Leela has energetic tunes set in the rural backdrop with brilliant lyrics by Siddharth and Garima. There is a slowdown in the pace in Ang Laga De Re, which is considered as one of his most romantic songs. Ye Laal Ishq is a tuneful melody with its delicate and tender music and rhythm, sung by Arijit Singh. Ishqyaun Dhishqyaun is a throwback to the late 90s in the Govinda era with its fun lyrics. Tattad Tattad brims with vibrant visuals and lamorous lehengas twirling around, and the music full of percussion instruments.

Music for Bajirao Mastani

Later on, Bajirao Mastani's Pinga and Malhari became household songs. These hummable songs garnered much popularity. Malhari raises the energy levels to match the zing of the young victorious king. With a Marathi folk tune, Deewani Mastani is neatly added to the Afghan-Persian theme. The pleasing voice of Shreya Ghoshal is the icing on the cake. Aaj Ibadat and Aayat were beautified with Javed Bashir and Arijit Singh’s voices respectively while Ganesh aarti, Jaydev Jaydev was elevated with royal music.
