Sonam Kapoor faces backlash for view on her film 'Neerja' not releasing in Pakistan, clarifies saying it's 'twisted & misinterpreted'

Sonam Kapoor was recently interviewed by an esteemed media publication where she was quizzed about the recent turmoil between India and Pakistan regarding Kashmir and was also asked to comment about Pakistan's ban on Indian films and CD's.

Commenting it she said, "As an artist, you want to represented everywhere, and you want your work to be shown everywhere. 'Neerja' was not shown in Pakistan even though it was a true story, because the plane landed in Karachi and the hijack took place in Karachi, and it didn't in any way show Pakistan in a negative light at all but the fact that they didn't show the film there was really heartbreaking. I have a huge Pakistani following and two of my friends, they are Muslim and half Pakistani"

However, her comments on various issues did not sit well with netizens and many were irked over it. Many social media users took to Twitter to express their disappointment over the matter. Read some comments below- 

Clarifying her stance over the matter,  Sonam Kapoor took to Twitter and wrote, Guys please calm down.. and get a life. Twisting, misinterpreting and understanding what you want from what someone has to say isn’t a reflection on the person who says it but on you. So self reflect and see who you are and hopefully get a job."

ON THE PROFESSIONAL FRONT: 

Sonam is gearing up for the release of her upcoming venture 'The Zoya Factor', co-starring Dulquer Salmaan. The film is being helmed by Abhishek Sharma and is all set to release on September 20, this year.

As per media reports, the film revolves around a Rajput girl named Zoya Singh Solanki, an executive in an advertising agency, who meets the Indian Cricket Team as part of a project. Following an interesting turn of events, she ends up becoming a lucky charm for the team during the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
