Sunny Deol and Karisma Kapoor have been acquitted in a two-decade-old case related to a pulling of the emergency chain of a train. A Jaipur court passed the verdict after citing a lack of evidence in the incident, that dates back to 1997, and also for charges against the duo as per sections that have been nullified.
As per reports, the court was examining the review petition filed by the actors against the charges framed by a trial court in September. Judge Pawan Kumar stated that the charges under which Sunny Deol and Karisma Kapoor were accused, like sections 141, 145, 146 and 147 of the Railways Act were nullified by the Sessions Court in 2010. The judge also noted that there was not enough evidence against the two actors to take action against them.
Sunny Deol and Karisma Kapoor were accused of pulling the train chain on March 11, 1997. The duo was shooting for the movie Bajrang then at Sanvarda village near Phulera in Jaipur district. It is being reported that the incident took place at the 2413-A Uplink Express at the Ajmer railway division where the train halted at Narena station in Phulera. The alleged incident of the chain-pulling led to a delay of 25 minutes for the train.
Both Sunny Deol and Karisma Kapoor had filed a review petition in the court. As per reports, action director Tinu Verma and another actor, Satish Shah, too were present during the alleged incident. The case will continue against them because they didn’t file a review petition like Sunny-Karisma, reports claimed.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Sunny Deol recently launched his son Karan Deol in Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas. Sunny also directed the movie that also featured Sahher Bambba. The film, however, didn’t live up to the expectations. Earlier this year, Sunny Deol became a Member of Parliament by winning the Gurdaspur seat representing the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Karisma Kapoor, on the other hand, last featured in a cameo in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Zero last year. The actor also made her digital debut with the show Mentalhood that was released on Zee 5 and Alt Balaji.
