It should be used correctly. Rajinikanth also commented on the sexual harassment charges against veteran Tamil film lyricist Vairamuthu by several women, including playback singer Chinmayi Sripaada, to which he said the poet-lyricist had denied the allegations and agreed to follow the law.

Recently, playback singer Chinmayi Sripaada accused a Tamil poet-lyricist Vairamuthu of sexual harassment. The singer alleged the poet tried harassing her when they both were in Switzerland for a book launch/album launch. In an exclusive interview to Republic TV, Chinmayi had revealed,

"4-5 years ago, when I was performing in Switzerland, I was asked to go to Vairamuthu's room. My mother and I put our foot down and they refused to even send us back to India after that. We threatened to go to the embassy if we have to and another time I was blackmailed for saying I won't sing for him".

Inspired by the west, the #MeToo movement has gained traction in India with several women speaking up against and pointing out sexual perpetrators. It began when former Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta accused actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on the sets of the 2008 film 'Horn Ok Pleasss'. The case became a huge deal with the help of social media as opposed to the time Dutta had made the allegations which was in the year 2008. Thereafter several Bollywood celebrities have taken a stand on the matter and condemned sexual harassment at workplaces. Until now, several eminent personalities from the Indian film industry have also been accused of sexual harassment including Alok Nath, Rajat Kapoor, Varun Grover, Karim Morani, Sajid Khan, Luv Ranjan, and Vikas Bahl to name a few.
