Russia: Marketing scheme goes wrong at petrol pump, men show up in bikini for free fuel!

Getting free fuel for vehicles these days is just like a dream come true. No matter how good is the economic condition of the country is, the proposal for filling up tanks for no exchange of money cannot be afforded by any government or any private company. But Russia went a bit ahead when it came up with a 'free fuel' strategy.

Brands are known to go far away when it comes to advertising and marketing. Sometimes they even devise unique marketing strategies to push up the sales. Some brands from around the world have used pretty bizarre techniques to bring in more customers.  This time Olvi gas station in the city of Samara in Russia did to increase its sales for a few hours. But things here took an unexpected turn.

Unique Marketing Strategy takes an unexpected turn:

The unique strategy that the station decided to opt for marketing was that whoever turns up in bikini will get the fuel for free. The condition, however, did not mention whether the offer was valid only for females or males. There was a shocking yet funny surprise for the owners, several men from Russia took advantage of the loophole and reached the gas station in bikinis. Some of the men went a little extra by pairing the colourful two-piece with heels. Now the pictures of bikini-clad men filling the fuel from the gas station are doing rounds on the Internet.

Russian Men in Bikinis:

This unexpected surprise by the Russian men forced the owner of Olvi gas station to reduce the offer time to three hours. But this was enough to bring the local and social media attention to the topic. While this may be a fascinating gimmick, the gas station has faced criticism for its desperate marketing stunt. But the enthusiasm of Russian men made the day memorable one for Russia. A while ago, a gas station in Ukraine also made the same offer and even it failed to mention the gender of the customers. As expected, even in Ukraine, several men turned up in bikinis at the gas station in large numbers to acquire free fuel.
