April 18 is celebrated as an International Day For Monuments and Sites commonly known as World Heritage Day. Every year, this day is celebrated according to a specific theme and it is intended to create and increase awareness about the preservation of human heritage, with respect to the monuments and heritage sites. UNESCO World Heritage convention declares a list of 38 world heritage sites in India. India ranks sixth in the largest number of heritage sites in the world.
